Candidate selection methods and its targeting within Active Employment Policy

1 Abstract Bachelor's thesis "Candidate selection methods and its targeting within Active Employment Policy" focuses on applicant selection methods and criteria, usage of early assessment methods, factors influencing effects and goals of the Active Employment Policy (AEP) and evaluation of the methods and criteria, which are being used at labour offices in Prague. Theoretical section focuses on explaining several crucial terms, which are directly related to selection methods and the AEP focus. At first, a concept of AEP is introduced, followed by a section explaining individual tools. Succeeding part describes factors effecting AEP goals and factors effecting the outcome of individual measures, which are consequential to AEP programs targeting. Last section is dedicated to the methods of early assessment of high-risk groups. Analytical section contains interview analyses, which were conducted with employees of labour offices in Prague. The results are divided into five chapters according to the survey question focus area. The outcome of the survey signifies that a personal approach to each applicant is being preferred. Another crucial factor is applicant's motivation.

Public employment services from the perspective of unemployed people

The bachelor thesis deals with the qualitative research issues of perception and evaluation of public employment services from the long term unemployed job seekers point of view. Attention is focused on their own personal experiences with Job centre staff and with some provided services, namely with retraining, job clubs, placement and counselling. Also, the goal is to find out if the job seekers themselves believe in finding a job via this institution, alternatively if they notice some barriers within functioning of the Job centre that would hinder them from finding a job. This paper is not limited only to the statements of facts but seeks to identify at least partly the phenomenons that can be hidden behind these evaluations and because of this reason there was qualitative method used in the research.
The comparison of the development of unemployment in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the development of unemployment in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic, and to find their differences with the main emphasis on the period after accession to the EU and the following effect the by economic crisis. The theoretical part provides the basic aspects related to unemployment, together with the chapter on the current state of knowledge of Czech and Slovak unemployment. At the beginning of the practical part, the development of unemployment in 1993-2003 is outlined, and it is followed by the main part of the work focused on the period 2004-2013. The particular chapters are focused on the accession of the CR and SR to the EU, changes in the structure of the economic status of the population in the labor market, precautious effecting unemployment and especially unemployment development with regard to the economic development of the states. Apart from the overall unemployment rate the attention is focused on the issue of long-term unemployment, the involvement of women, older workers and young job seekers in the labor market. The final part provides a summary of the differences found in the development of unemployment in the CR and SR and their probable causes.
An Analysis of Unemployment in Poland and the Czech Republic

The subject-matter of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of unemployment in the Czech Republic and Poland with a main focus on long-term unemployment which has a negative effect on an individual as well as on the state's economy. The major goal of this thesis is to compare the development and structure of unemployment in both countries from different perspectives by using appropriate statistical methods. The first part focuses on a clarification of terms such as unemployment. The second part of this paper compares the basic and common characteristics of the countries. The next part is devoted to the theory of the statistical methods which are use in the analytical part. Based on the data taken from Eurostat and the Czech Statistical Office in the year 1998--2013 is in the analytical part used the Analysis of Variance, analysis of trend and forecast of the long-term unemployment by using the exponential smoothing method. The bachelor thesis provides a compact insight into problems of unemployment in the Czech Republic and Poland.
Analysis of labour market Svitavy

This thesis describes the development of unemployment in the district of Svitavy. It is a region with the highest unemployment rate in the Pardubice region and even in the nation-wide scale it is on the lower positions. At the beginning, the work focuses on long-term unemployment because long-term unemployed people are among the most threatened groups on the labour market. It describes their educational structure and the share of women on the whole. The next part of the work focuses on how to address unemployment and describes the active employment policy in the district of Svitavy region and compares its efficiency with the districts of Pardubice Region - Ústí nad Orlicí and Chrudim. At the end of the thesis, with the help of a questionnaire survey, the satisfaction of employers with the supply on the labour market and their participation in active employment policy is detected and based on obtained data a short-term future prediction of development is deduced.
